Bomb squads and Anti-Sabotage Check teams deployed for safe Dasara
Mysuru: The State Police Department and Mysuru City Police have stepped up security to ensure the smooth conduct of the 11-day, 416th edition of Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara.
As part of the arrangements, 5,161 Police personnel, including 33 Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons, have been deployed at various locations across the city. In addition, 34,000 CCTV cameras have been installed for round-the-clock surveillance.
With Dasara being celebrated on a grand scale this year, Anti-Sabotage Check (ASC) teams and bomb squads are carrying out checks at key locations across the city, assisted by sniffer dogs and metal detectors.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, DCP (Law and Order) Dr. Harsha Priyamvada said, “A total of 16 ASC teams and three bomb squads have been deployed at various locations in the city. They have been allocated specified locations across the city to conduct constant checks.”
The teams are inspecting Dasara venues, including Kalamandira, Torchlight Parade Grounds, Uttanahalli (the Yuva Dasara venue), the Aahara Mela, Flower Show and Kambala venue in Sathagalli to rule out possible threats. Sniffer dogs and metal detectors are being used during the checks.
Mysuru City Police has also deployed additional teams along the Jumboo Savari route, from Mysore Palace to the Torchlight Parade Grounds, to prevent untoward incidents.
The ASC teams have been brought in from Hassan, Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar.
