City youth selected for Thailand Karate Championship

A youth from the city has been selected to participate in the international Karate championship to be held in Thailand on July 10. R. Rohit, son of Ramesh and Anitha, residents of Raghavendranagar, is the one who is selected.

He is doing his second year engineering in MYCEM (Mysore College of Engineering and Management) and along with studies he is practising karate since the last ten years. He has participated in the State, National and International-level championships and has won gold, silver and bronze medals.

I had been watching others practice karate from childhood and hence I also got interested in learning karate. My parents encouraged me to take it up. My father is a driver and we have to live on his meagre earnings. However, as I have been selected for Thailand, I am finding it difficult to arrange for my travel expenses, rues R. Rohit, Karate Champion.

Rohit is undergoing training at GTK Speed Karate in Kuvempunagar.

Prizes: Rohit has bagged gold medal in the National Karate Championship held at Kolkata, silver in the championship at Chennai, gold again in championships at Delhi and Sri Lanka. In all, he has bagged 20 gold, 10 silver and 5 bronze till now.

Rohit, who is embarking on a visit to Thailand to participate in the International Championship, can be contacted on Mob: 88806-55558.
