City youth to represent Commonwealth Youth Council

Mysore/Mysuru: Ajay Kashyap, a 26-year-old youth from Kuvempunagar in city, has been appointed as India’s representative to the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) for the tenure of two years (2021-23) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

Commonwealth Youth Council is the youth body of the Commonwealth of Nations, which comprise 54 countries across Asia, Pacific, Europe, Africa, Caribbean and the America.

Ajay will represent the country in the General Assembly of the CYC which works on four agendas — Economic, Environment, Political and Social Agenda.

In the coming two years, Ajay will be tasked with representing the views and aspirations of the youth of India amidst the Commonwealth Nations in the Commonwealth Youth Forum, that will be held on the sidelines of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Rwanda, Africa and other events where India will need to be represented.

Ajay is the son of K.G. Nagesh and Jyothi Nagesh. He has worked as a Senior Researcher in a New Delhi-based think tank, where he worked on policy issues concerning national security, international affairs and educational affairs, among others.
