Mysuru: Kaustubh, an engineering student of the city, has made a mark with his new Kannada Rap song titled ‘Badalavane,’ which is setting a craze among the youth.

Kaustubh, a final year Mechanical Engineering student at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering in city, is the son of P.G. Raman and N. Bharathi, residents of Ramakrishnanagar.

‘Badalavane’ in English means ‘Change’ and young Kaustubh is looking to bring about a change in his Kannada Rap song ‘Badalavane,’ that focuses on inspiring the youth to fight atrocities on women.

This Kannada Rap is hitting the headlines in YouTube and other social media networks.

The rap song features a youth, who upon learning about the molestation of his girlfriend, setting out to send a stern message to the society against carrying out crimes on womenfolk and playing with their lives. The youth has also sought to create awareness by inviting everyone to join hands for bringing about the ‘Change’ in our attitude towards women.

As the rap song became popular, people have engaged themselves in organising street plays and other means for educating the society on the adverse effects of attacks against women and also to propagate that women need to be treated equally.

Kaustubh, who is known by his stage name Killa-K, has composed the song and music for the rap song himself. The rap is produced by Yashas Gowda, with Tejas Jain directing the song.

Ashwij Donthi has done the editing job, Chinmay  Murthy screen play, with EMCEE Raga being the creative Head.

The ‘Badalavane’ rap team had earlier visited Kodagu after last year’s natural calamity which ravaged the district and set the tone for generous relief through a rap song ‘Yaake’? (why).

He further said that he would come up with more songs on issues concerning women security and safety in the days to come.
