City’s Naval NCC cadets excel at All India Nau Sainik Camp

Mysuru: Seven cadets of 3 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, Mysore, have brought laurels to the State by achieving overall second position in the recently concluded All India Nau Sainik Camp at INS Kadamba, Naval Base, Karwar, during Sept.-Oct.

A total of 590 Naval Wing NCC cadets from 17 Directorates representing various States across India competed in events like boat-pulling race, ship-modelling, rifle firing, Naval signal communication (semaphore) and drill competition.

The team of five boys and two girls from Yuvaraja’s, Maharaja’s and Sarada Vilas Colleges of Mysuru were part of the 40 NCC cadets from six NCC Units of Karnataka and Goa. The team was given rigorous training by instructors of 3 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC at Kukkarahalli Lake in city, Ulsoor Lake at Bengaluru and in Udupi. East West International School, Hootagalli, Mysuru, supported this unit by provisioning their swimming pool for the purpose of cadets’ training.

The team also bagged gold medal in boys, silver medal in girls’ boat-pulling race and silver medal in drill competition.

Leading cadet Nikhil Srinivasan from Yuvaraja’s College secured Silver Medal in Service Subject exam.

During the camp, the cadets were taken onboard Naval Warship to get first-hand experience of Indian Navy.
