Mysuru: K.S. Siveej, an RBI employee from city, has brought laurels to the country by successfully completing the brutal Seoul-Haenam-Seoul (SHS) 1,200- km brevet in South Korea and earning the prestigious Asian Award — a distinction achieved by only a select few randonneurs worldwide.
Out of nearly 300 registered participants, only about 25 riders successfully completed the Korea LRM series, underlining the extraordinary difficulty of the challenge.
Siveej battled through continuous mountains, minimal sleep, physical exhaustion and adverse conditions to finish the demanding SHS 1,200-km within the official time limit.
Siveej is a Paris-Brest-Paris 2023 finisher, one of the most prestigious events in world randonneuring. In 2024, he completed the gruelling ISAN Thailand 2,000-km ride, followed by the Lambasingi 1,200-km brevet in 2025, consistently demonstrating exceptional resilience and determination in ultra-distance cycling.
Siveej is also a Full Everesting finisher, conquering 8,848 metres of elevation gain in 33 hours — a feat equivalent to climbing Mount Everest in a single ride and considered one of the toughest challenges in endurance cycling.
Beyond cycling, Siveej is a 50-km ultra-runner and together with his family, is recognised in the India Book of Records.
His son, Arjun K. Siveej, holds recognition from the International Book of Records as the youngest ultra-runner. His daughter, Archa, has earned medals in various cycling and running events, while his wife, Shani Siveej, is also an accomplished ultra-runner.
The completion of SHS 1,200-km brevet and the achievement of the prestigious Asian Award stand as a testament to Siveej’s unwavering determination, resilience and passion for pushing human limits.
