City’s Soumya Jain receives Best Teacher Award

Mysuru:  City’s R. Soumya Jain has received the State-level Best Teacher Award at a ceremony held in Bengaluru on Sept. 5. Primary and Secondary Education Minister N. Mahesh gave away the award in the presence of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Soumya Jain is the wife of Apthamithra-fame Dance Guru Sridhar Jain of Nimishamba Dance School and teaches music at Government High School, Varuna. She has been selected for the State Award among the 11 teachers in the High School category. She was conferred the Best Teacher Award at District-level in the same school in 2016.

She has been in the profession since the last 16 years and teaches music to over 400 students. This apart, she conducts special classes after her school hour that has enabled many students of her school to bag prizes in many competitions.

Soumya has great concern for society and a case in point to prove this is that years back she rescued a 6-year-old nomad girl child who was unaware of the fact that her mother was dead. Sowmya took the child in her arms and arranged for the cremation of her mother. The child is now studying in first PUC.

She is providing financial assistance to many poor students to complete their studies. She also provides money for their medical needs. She has developed a garden for the students and also fought to save two giant trees from getting chopped on her school campus.
