Mysuru: In a major catch, the Lashkar Police, who arrested a conman, have recovered jewellery worth Rs. 6.10 lakh and Rs. 1,720 cash, which he had stolen from victims.
The arrested has been identified as K.P. Sumesh, 30, of Anamangad village in Perinthalmanna Taluk of Malappuram District in Kerala.
Sumesh, who used to camp in a city lodge, used to lure customers over phone by claiming to be an expert in massaging. When the unsuspecting customers visited the lodge for having a massage, Sumesh used to sedate them by offering cool drinks and rob them of their belongings, once they fell asleep.
Acting on a tip off, the Lashkar Police picked up Sumesh near a lodge on Keshava Iyengar street on Dec.23. During interrogation, Sumesh is said to have confessed to relieving his customers of their jewellery and cash, following which 203 gm of gold jewellery totally was recovered.
With the arrest of Sumesh, the Police have cracked 10 such robbery cases, including three each in the city and Bengaluru, two in Hassan and one each in Mandya and Kolar.
The nabbing and seizure operation was carried out by Lashkar Police Inspector H.R. Vivekananda, PSI Pooja S. Hattaraki and other staff under the guidance of DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and Devaraja ACP Gajendra Prasad.
