Classes online but exams offline: Minister clarifies

Bengaluru: Higher Education Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan has categorically said that in the academic year 2021-2022, the classes would be conducted online but the examination would not be held online.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, he said parents were putting forth demand to conduct the examination online. But it was not at all possible in the Government system. Examination had to be conducted offline. However, a few Deemed Varsities were getting prepared to hold the examination online. But this was not allowed in our system, he added.

The Minister said the examination time-table of Degree, post-graduation, diploma and engineering courses were affected due to KSRTC bus strike. The exams would begin after the  bus strike ends.

Once Covid pandemic comes under control, offline classes will begin and students will have option to choose whether offline or online classes according to their convenience. However, attendance will be compulsory in one of them, he added.
