Clear clogged footpaths in K.R. Constituency: Pedestrians

Mysuru: Pedestrians and members of the public have appealed to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to take action against rampant footpath encroachments in the Krishnaraja (KR) Assembly Constituency.

Footpaths along Vishwashanthi Road, from Vivekananda Circle to Srirampura; from KHB Complex to the KSRTC Bus Depot in Kuvempunagar; and from N. Madhavarao Circle (Agrahara Circle) to M.V. Srinivasan Circle near Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, passing through Nanjumalige — one of the city’s busiest stretches — have been extensively encroached upon by vendors. However, no permanent solution has been found to the problem.

Meanwhile, civic works to overhaul the drinking water distribution network by replacing old pipelines with new ones are also under way, adding to the inconvenience faced by the public.

Coming back to the issue of footpath encroachments, both the footpaths and portions of the carriageway along the above-mentioned roads have been occupied, disrupting the smooth flow of traffic.

Residents of nearby localities have repeatedly complained about the difficulties they face in accessing the main road near the KHB Complex in Kuvempunagar, but their appeals have largely gone unheard.
