Chamarajanagar: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday inaugurated the JSS Hospital at Chamarajanagar, established at a cost of  Rs. 25 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the contribution of the Mutts in shoring up medical and educational facilities in the State was immense.

Pointing out that the State Government had embarked on setting up medical colleges in various districts of the State as the teaching hospitals affiliated to these colleges, Siddharamaiah said that this move would benefit the rural populace who can avail themselves of the facilities offered by the teaching hospitals.

Lauding the social work being undertaken by the Suttur Mutt in health and education, the CM said that the Mutt had engaged itself in propagating spiritual, cultural and social activities for decades. Regretting that medicos are not keen to work in rural areas after completing the course for some reasons, the Chief Minister called upon the medical students to serve in rural areas. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the golden jubilee celebrations of JSS Women’s College in the town.

In his inaugural address, the CM said that more than 1 lakh students were getting educated in the Institutions run by the JSS throughout the State and even abroad and it was strengthening the Government’s efforts in this direction.

Noting that education was vital for women for their social and economic emancipation, the CM said that the Government had launched various programmes to achieve it.

The 100-bedded hospital will have 18 specialty and 5 super-specialty facilities. This apart, the hospital has latest laboratories, CT Scan, X-ray, ultrasound, two Operation Theatres, Labour OTs and ICUs.

The hospital also has dialysis facilities, pharmacy, ambulance service and a canteen. People can also avail the health facilities under various health schemes and health insurance.
