Mysuru: The Karnataka State Temperance Board, which campaigns against alcohol and drug addiction in society, will confer ‘Samyama Awards’ on three personalities at Kalamandira here on Aug. 29.
CM Siddharamaiah will present the awards for three years 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Announcing this at a press meet at the DC’s office here yesterday, the Board Chairman H.C. Rudrappa said that the awardees are Ningaraj Malladi of Belaku Samsthe, Hunsur (2014-15), Dr. C.R. Chandrashekar, former Professor of Psychiatry at NIMHANS, Bengaluru (2015-16) and Dr. H.G. Sadashivaiah of Tumakuru (2016-17).
Each award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, he said and added that the awardees were selected by a nine-member Committee which comprised the Directors of the Board.
Continuing, Rudrappa said that the three personalities are being conferred with the award for their efforts in spreading the message about the ill-effects of alcoholism and helping people overcome alcoholism.
