CM stays away from Cabinet meeting

August 2, 2024

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah skipped the Cabinet meeting that discussed the show-cause notice issued to him by the  Governor, which demanded an explanation as to why prosecution sanction should not be accorded in connection with alleged MUDA scam.

According to Law Minister H.K. Patil, Siddaramaiah missed the meeting because it was  slated to discuss allegations involving his family.

“To prevent bias in decision-making, it was decided that he (Siddaramaiah) should be kept out of the Cabinet meeting. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was authorised by him to head the Cabinet meeting. We discussed the show-cause notice issued to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by Governor. This is likely the first time in Karnataka’s history that a Chief Minister was kept out of a Cabinet meeting,” H.K. Patil said.

Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara added, “The Cabinet meeting has to happen in his (Siddaramaiah’s) absence. We (Ministers) requested him not to attend (the Cabinet meeting).”
