CM to present Media Academy Awards in B’luru tomorrow

Bengaluru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will present the Annual Media Academy Awards-2018 at a programme organised at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Vasanthanagar, Bengaluru, tomorrow (Feb.11) at 5.30 pm.

A total of 50 journalists from across the State will receive the  awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award.

While the Special Award carries a purse of Rs. 50,000 and a citation, the Annual Awards carry a purse of Rs.25,000 and a citation each.

Apart from that, ‘Andolana Award’ given to Best Newspaper, ‘Abhimani Award’ to be given to write-ups on social issues, ‘Aragini Award’ given to cine journalist, ‘Mysuru Diganta Award’ for articles of human interest and ‘Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Mookanayaka Award’ for the columnist who writes on backward classes (instituted by journalist K. Shivakumar), will also be presented on the occasion. All the awards carry a purse of Rs.10,000 and a citation each.

Book release: Dy.CM Dr. G. Parameshwara will release books written on journalism filed. Water Resources and Kannada & Culture Minister D.K. Shivakumar will release the book with introduction of the awardees. Former Minister R. Roshan Baig will preside. MP P.C. Mohan and Secretary to the Government Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Department of Information and Public Relations Director M. Ravikumar will be the chief guests. Academy Chairman Siddaraju will speak on the occasion.
