CM upset with doctors’ irresponsibility

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has taken strong exception to the strike call given by the private hospitals terming it an act of irresponsibility by the Doctors.

Reacting to the strike call by the doctors of private establishments against the KPME (Amendments) Bill, he said that the strike was uncalled for when discussions were still on about the Bill. The Bill that has been proposed is before the Joint Committee. A discussion is going to be held on this in the Legislature.

Health and Family Welfare Department Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Seth said that the Government at any cost will not take an unilateral decision. The opinion of the experts will be gathered before a final decision is taken.

In the Amendments suggested to the Bill, it is said that the patients must be made aware of their rights. At the District-level there should be a Complaint Redressal Cell. There should be uniform treatment fees and actual cost of the treatment should be charged were some of the points raised in the Bill. There is scope for discussions on all these issues, he said.
