CNC’s demand for autonomy for Kodagu: MP Dr. Subramanian Swamy to move Private Member Constitution (Amendment) Bill

Madikeri:  Former Union Minister and MP Dr. Subramanian Swamy has agreed to move a Private Member Constitution (Amendment) Bill in the ensuing Session of the Parliament in support of the demand of Codava National Council (CNC) seeking autonomy status for Kodagu.

This was disclosed by CNC President N.U. Nachappa.

A delegation led by Nachappa had met Dr. Subramanian Swamy at a private hotel in Bengaluru recently and held discussions on the topic.

Nachappa said that Dr. Swamy had assured the delegation that he would speak to the concerned Union Minister Uma Bharathi in that regard and also move a Private Member Bill in that context. He added that Dr. Swamy had appreciated the proposed CNC rally from Talacauvery to Poompuhar in Tamil Nadu seeking a living entity status for the lifeline River Cauvery on the lines of Rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Narmada.

Nachappa further said that the delegation also met Sri Ravi Shankar Guruji of Art of Living seeking blessings and support for the proposed rally. The CNC delegation also comprised K. Prakash, K. Umesh and C. Janath.
