Mysuru: Saree in India represents its rich heritage and culture. It is hard to find out about the origin of saree since it is being used from many decades. Women draped is sarees look all the most attractive and elegant than dressed in any other costumes.
India being a country of different culture, sarees are also draped in different styles according to the tradition of respective culture.
Women prefer to purchase the saree of their choice, especially during special occasions be it the marriage ceremony, house warming and festivals. With the Gowri and Ganesha festival just round the corner, the Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society Ltd., popularly known as Co-optex, has organised exhibition-cum-sale of sarees at Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) premises on JLB Road in city.
The exhibition, inaugurated by MCC Zone 6 Assistant Commissioner B.N. Veena, will be open till Aug. 24 and the organisers have also announced 30 percent discount on the sarees.
There are a variety of sarees including Kanchivaram, Arni saree, Coimbatore soft silk, Organic cotton saree and others.
Co-optex was established in 1935 and has a long and rich tradition in Handloom History that dates back over 80 years.
It has a network of 200 showrooms spread all over India with an annual turnover of around Rs.1,000 crore. It is the No. 1 Apex Handloom Co-operative Society in the country because of its talented, dedicated, highly skilled and devoted clan of Handloom Weavers from all over Tamil Nadu.
Apart from sarees, the Co-optex has also put on sale towels, bed spreads, floor mats, kurtis, chudidhar, carpets, dhotis, pillow covers and others.
Co-optex Manager V. Gunshekaran and other employees were present during the inauguration.
