Col. C.K. Nayadu Trophy 2019-20: Shiva Singh, Kunal Yadav excel for UP

Good penetrative bowling by left-arm spinner Shiva Singh (4/65), ably assisted by medium-pacer Kunal Yadav (3/52), enabled Uttar Pradesh (UP) to take control of the match by bowling out hosts Karnataka for 275 in 107.5 overs, and following on in their second innings, Karnataka were reduced to 19/1 in 10 overs at close of play on the third and penultimate day of the four-day Col. C.K. Nayadu Trophy 2019-20 match played at the SDNR Wadiyar Platinum Jubilee University Grounds here yesterday.

Resuming at their overnight score of 75/4 in 32.6 overs, Karnataka were helped by some good batting by Luvnith Sisodia (82, 192b, 10×4) and S.S.Sateri (45, 95b, 9×4), who added 82-runs for the fifth wicket.

Later for the seventh wicket, Luvnith Sisodia and Vyshak Vijaykumar (41, 114b, 7×4) added 71-runs. Karnataka were bowled out for 275 in 107.5 overs. UP’s left-arm spinner Shiva Singh impressed by taking 4/65. He was well-supported by medium-pacer Kunal Yadav (3/52) and Karan Sharma (2/48). UP secured a lead of 159-runs and enforced the follow-on.

Karnataka, in their second essay, had scored 19/1 in 10 overs at close. Opener B.U. Shivakumar (9 n.o.) and N. Jayesh (0 n.o.) were at the crease at stumps on the third-day. UP holds the advantage and are presently ahead                                           by 140-runs.
