Left-arm spinner J. Suchith’s six wicket haul (six for 74), enabled hosts Karnataka to bowl out Uttar Pradesh for 176 in 41 overs and register a big 17-run win on the penultimate day of the Col. C.K. Nayadu Trophy Plate (third place tie) U-23 match played at the SDNR Wadiyar Grounds yesterday. Resuming their overnight score of six for two in 7.1 overs, Uttar Pradesh needing another 288-runs for an outright win were bowled out for 176 in 41 overs. Skipper Shivam Chaudhary (24, 2x4s), Shubham Chaubey (20, 2x4s), Upendra Yadav (24, 2x4s, 2x6s) and Deepak Kumar 30 (4x4s, 2x6s) were the run-getters for Uttar Pradesh. M. Prasidh (one for 22), Pradeep (one for 14), Shreyas Gopal (one for 46) and Prateek Jain (one for seven) were the other wicket-takers.
With this win Karnataka earned promotion to the Elite group for the next year championship.
