Col. M. K. Belliappa takes over as Group Commander, NCC Mysuru

Col. Mallengada Kishore Belliappa has assumed charge as Group Commander, NCC (National Cadet Corps) Group, Mysuru.

The NCC Group Mysuru has over 10,000 Cadets enrolled from different Schools and Colleges in Mysuru and adjoining Districts of Mandya, Hassan, Chikkamagalur and Chamarajanagar.

Profile: Col. M.K. Belliappa is an Infantry Officer commissioned into the Mahar Regiment of the Indian Army in Dec. 1987. The Officer is a graduate of the Prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and the Delhi University. His academic and professional qualifications include M.Sc (Defence and Strategic Studies) from Madras University, Master’s Diploma in Business Administration from Symbiosis University, PG Diploma in Personnel Management, Industrial Relations and Public Relations from Mumbai University.

The 51-year-old Officer has served in the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka and the Counter Insurgency Operational Areas in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Punjab. He has also served in the highest battle field at Northern Glacier at Siachen.

Col. Belliappa has commanded an Infantry Battalion in Jammu and Dras (Kargil) and later commanded a Territorial Army Battalion at Srinagar and Belgaum.

He has also been the Training Battalion Commander at Mahar Regiment Centre at Saugor (MP) where he has been responsible for training recruits of the Mahar Regiment. The Officer was posted as Director in the Military Intelligence Directorate at the Army HQ.

Hailing from Badagarakeri near Birunani in South Kodagu, Col. Belliappa is the son of Mallenganda Kariappa Belliappa and Polly Belliappa (Cheppudira). He is married to Kavitha  (Kuttanda) and the couple have a daughter Nikita, who is in final B.Tech and son Dhruva, studying in 10th standard.
