College Principal killed as truck rams into bike

Mysore/Mysuru: An ITI College Principal was killed on the spot, when a truck rammed into the bike he was riding near J.P. Nagar Ring Road on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased is Venugopal (53), son of late Swaminath and a resident of Vidyaranyapuram in city. He was serving as the Principal of Jnanasewa ITI College at Vishweshwaranagar here.

Venugopal was proceeding on his Hero Honda Passion Plus bike (KA-09-HY-7079) on the Ring Road from Nanjangud Road and when he crossed the Railway underbridge and neared a turning of the Ring Road near Ramabainagar, a truck (KA-02-AC-2077) allegedly rammed into the bike from behind at about 1.30 pm and dragged Venugopal along with the bike for about 100 mts. Vegugopal’s head was smashed beyond recognition and he died on the spot, according to those who witnessed the accident.

As another truck (MH-15-DL-659) rammed into the truck that hit Venugopal’s bike, the truck had dragged the bike and body of Venugopal for 100 mts, informed the public to Police.

KR Traffic Inspector Vinay and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members. 

KR Traffic Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have seized both the trucks and have launched a hunt to nab both the drivers, who had fled from the spot after leaving the trucks behind.
