College students join Ramakrishna Ashrama’s cleanliness campaign

Mysuru: The 31st  week of the ‘Swachha Mysuru – Swastha Jeevana’ campaign to enhance civic awareness about neighbourhood cleanliness and environmental protection, was held in Kuvempunagar yesterday, covering K-Block, Anikethana Road P&T Block, J-Block, I-Block, C&D Block, E&F Block, G&H Block, Navilu Road, etc.

Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama Mysuru Adhyaksha Swami Atmajnanandaji, former Speaker of Vidhana Sabha Krishna, former MLC D. Madegowda, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, local Corporator K.V. Mallesh, former Mayor S. Purushotham, Vasu Agarbathies Proprietor Krishna, Professor K.S. Nagapathi and officials of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) participated in the inauguration of the campaign.

Residents were requested to desist from throwing waste in public places, avoid using plastic bags and take care of hygiene in surrounding public places.

In all, 400 people including Ashrama volunteers, students from TTL College, Vijaya Vittala College, JSS Law College, Vijaya Chethana College, Basudev Somani College, Government PU College, Vidyavardhaka High School, Jnanaganga High School, Members of Anikethana Seva Trust and local residents, participated in the cleaning and awareness campaign. A brochure on the campaign was distributed to households in the locality.
