Columbia Asia holds awareness session on Bone and Joint Health

Mysuru: Knee and hip joint pains are common problems faced by people of all age groups. It is estimated that in India, more than four million people above 60 years and more than six million across all age groups need help for knee disorders.

With an aim to encourage people to come out and seek help in making their lives better, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru, conducted an awareness session on Bone and Joint Health at the hospital on Apr.22.

Around 65 people attended the session that included both patients and their families and patients who have undergone knee replacement surgery in the past.

“Generally knee problems are associated with old age but it has been found that there is an increase in the number of young people under the age of 55 who complain of knee problems too. Appropriate treatment, at times surgical, can provide effective relief of pain and disability associated with conditions like these,” said Dr. B.R. Prashanth, Joint Replacement Surgeon.

Other speakers were Dr. Balasubramanyam – Anaesthe-siologist, Shivani Gurung – Physiotherapy Executive and Greena Menezes – Asst. Manager – Operations and Dietetics.  Col. Rahul Tewari, GM, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru, was present.
