Mysuru:  The Deputy Commissioner’s monthly phone-in-programme witnessed a series of complaints concerning the city’s civic issues and encroachment of government land at several places in the district.

A total of 18 complaints were received at the hour-long phone-in programme yesterday.

A senior citizen from Kuvempunagar complained of the menace of high beam lights in vehicles, while another complained of lack of traffic signal at the Ring Road junction on Manandavadi Road near Srirampura, to which the DC directed the Police and RTO officials to act on the complaints at the earliest, with Dasara fast approaching.

A resident of Srirampura complained that certain Ayurveda Clinics in the city were prescribing Allopathy drugs in violation of medical practices.

The DC directed the Health authorities to carry out checks by paying surprise visits to clinics and take necessary action if the allegations were true.

A resident of Urdu Teachers Colony near H.D. Deve Gowda Junction on Bannur Ring Road complained that the Colony was lacking in civic amenities and the authorities had turned a blind eye despite several representations.

Another resident near Ramaswamy Circle demanded cutting of dead trees and trimming of branches of trees along all roads of the city in the interest of motorists and pedestrians.

The DC directed the MCC Commissioner to address the issues along with the ongoing Dasara works.

Most complaints from rural areas of the district pertained to encroachment of government lands and lake beds, de-silting of water bodies and delay in releasing of subsidy for horticultural equipment.

The DC directed the authorities concerned to look into the complaints on a priority basis.

ADC T. Yogesh, MUDA Commissioner P.S. Kantharaj, MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha, Tahsildar Ramesh Babu and others officials were present.
