Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has organised a Karnatak classical vocal concert by Vidu. S. Chaithrika, at 6 pm on Saturday (Sept. 12) at Jayanagar Sri Rama Mandira, Mysuru.
Vid. N.N. Ganeshkumar, Vid. Pavan Madhava Masur and Vid. Dheemantha Bhatta will support her on violin, mridanga and ghata.
Profile: Vidu. Chaithrika hails from Mysuru and had her early music training from her grand- mother Vidu. Indira Shankar and then came under the tutelage of Ganakala Bhushana Dr. R.N. Sreelatha where she underwent rigorous training for 22 years. She had excelled in KSEE Board’s music exam, by securing State topper position in senior and distinction in Vidwath.
Chaithrika has been a recipient of CCRT scholarship for young artistes and Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy scholarships. Some of the accolades are: first prize in State-level RTP competition (Shruthi Manjari, Mysuru), second in Nadakishora (Nadabrahma, Mysuru) and Inter-University National Youth Festival.
She is also a freelance announcer for All India Radio and an acclaimed instrumental music series, ‘Vadya Vaibhava,’ produced by her for AIR was well-received. She mentors aspiring students at Shankar Mahadevan Academy.
