Mysore/Mysuru: The day-long 2nd Triennial Conference of Union Bank of India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association-Karnataka began at Hotel President here this morning.
Speaking after inaugurating the Conference, former Faculty of University of Mysore Prof. B.P. Mahesh Chandra Guru said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who is the Father of the Constitution, always strived to get Social, Economical, Political and Cultural freedom to all citizens of the country.
Maintaining that SC/ST communities are not the lone beneficiaries of Dr. Ambedkar’s movement, he asserted that all Indians are the beneficiaries of social justice advocated by him.
Observing that the people of the country should be grateful to Dr. Ambedkar for having given the Constitution that ensures social justice to all, he said that Baba Saheb also fought for equality, justice, education and empowerment of women.
R. Shivakumar, Deputy Regional Head (Mysuru), Union Bank of India, in his address, opined that the society should be like a florist in a way for bringing about parity in all areas. Lauding the Association for doing a good job in disseminating useful information on Government facilities, schemes, programmes and benefits to all sections of society, he said that the Association should be beneficial even to the lowest strata of society by working for their financial and social empowerment.
Association President D. Vijaykumar, Deputy General Secretary G. Manchaiah, General Secretary D. Krishnamurthy, Joint Secretary Arun Kumar, Vice-President Anand Rathod, Prof. Siddaraju, Kasturi and others were present.
