Prof. D. S. Ramakrishna Rao, Design chair of the MSA, one of the speakers in his introduction to the conference said that the Indian Urban fabric is experiencing a rapid development in every part of the country through the proliferation of malls, large scale multi-storied housing and peripheral growth beyond the venerable boundaries of our cities.
This process is indifferent to the significance and importance of our Heritage cities, Heritage buildings, monuments and other elements are being cast away into the realms of obscurity by the lack of proper urban planning and a balance between the process of urbanisation and maintaining the solemnity of the Heritage cities.
We must address through this conference the process of Urban Renewal for Heritage Cities with a culturally sensitive, cautious and planned approach to ensure the survival of our Heritage, said Prof. Ramakrishna Rao.
