Bengaluru: KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar said that Congress candidate for Maski Assembly by-poll will file nominations on Mar. 29 and the candidate for Basa-vakalyan Assembly segment on Mar.30.
Speaking to presspersons at the KPCC Office on Queens Road here on Saturday, Shivakumar said that the Congress has already announced that Basanagouda Turvihal will contest from Maski, while Mallamma, wife of late party MLA B. Narayanrao will contest from Basavakalyan Assembly segment. While Turvihal will file nomination on Mar. 29, Mallamma will file her nomination papers on Mar. 30, he said.
Expressing confidence that the Congress would win all the three seats that are going to the by-polls on Apr.17, Shivakumar said that the party would follow the COVID-19 SOPs during filing of nominations and also during poll campaigns.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Congress has finalised the candidature of former Minister and current MLA from Yemakanamaradi Satish Jarkiholi for Belagavi LS by-poll and the Congress High Command will officially announce the name in a couple of days.
