Congress celebrates Rajiv Gandhi and D. Devaraj Urs birth anniversary

District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa offering floral tributes to the portrait of former PM late Rajiv Gandhi and former CM late D. Devaraj Urs on the occasion of their birth anniversaries at a function organised at Congress Bhavan near City Railway Station in city this morning as ZAK Chairperson Mallige Veeresh and other Congress leaders look on.      

Mysuru: The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi and former Chief Minister late d. Devaraj Urs were celebrated by the City and District Congress at the new Congress Bhavan near City Railway station here this morning.

Speaking after paying tributes, District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa hailed the two leaders for their immense contributions to the people.

Pointing out that while Rajiv Gandhi served the country as Prime Minister, D. Devaraj Urs served the State as the Chief Minister, Dr. Mahadevappa said that the two leaders always stood for the cause of the oppressed classes and neglected sections of the society.

Exhorting the Congress workers to sensitise the people on the works done by Rajiv Gandhi and Devaraj Urs, he stressed on the need for treading the path left by the two great leaders. Floral tributes were paid to the portraits of the two leaders on the occasion.

KEA Chairman Siddaraju, ZAK Chairperson Mallige Veeresh, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, City Congress President R. Murthy and others were present.
