Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the Government to distribute 10-kg rice to BPL card holders in accordance with the previous Anna Bhagya scheme, the City and District Congress launched a post-card campaign in front of the City Corporation Office on Sayyaji Rao Road here yesterday.
Addressing the Congress workers, KPCC Women’s Wing State President Dr. Pushpa Amarnath said that the Congress Government led by Siddharamaiah had introduced Anna Bhagya scheme under which each member of BPL cards would get 10-kg of rice every month.
But the B.S. Yediyurappa led BJP Government has reduced the rice quota to just 2-kg, which move has badly affected poor families, that are already reeling under the effects of COVID-19 crisis, she alleged.
Asserting that the COVID crisis has thrown crores of poor families to the streets, Dr. Pushpa said that the Government should come to the rescue of poor families by providing 10-kg of rice in this hour of crisis.
District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, Party Spokesperson H.A. Venkatesh, and others leaders took part in the post-card campaign.
