Condemns brutal assault on Sait,  demands judicial probe

Mysuru: The brutal assault on MLA Tanveer Sait late last night echoed in the Congress demonstration that was staged near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here this morning in protest against violation of model code of conduct and other electoral malpractices by the ruling BJP in connection with the Assembly by-polls.

Strongly condemning the attack on Tanveer Sait, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar demanded a judicial probe to unearth the larger  conspiracy behind the attack and urged the Government to punish the culprits for the heinous act.

Coming back to the subject of the protest, Vijaykumar wanted to know what action the Government had taken in respect of the seizure of thousands of sarees found with the name of BJP leader C.P. Yogeshwar and BJP handbills, which was purportedly meant for distribution among voters of Hunsur Assembly segment  that is going to the by-poll on Dec.5.

Accusing the BJP Government of misusing power to win the by-polls by hook or crook, the Congress leaders alleged that the district administration and the Police had failed in taking necessary action against BJP leaders even though a very huge quantity of sarees was seized from a godown in Hootagalli.

Urging the Election Commission to ensure a free and fair poll by taking all necessary steps, the Congress leaders urged the poll authorities to install cctv cameras at all entry points to Hunsur, check all vehicles for cash and valuables and to ensure compliance of the model code of conduct in totality.

The protestors later submitted a complaint to Additional DC B.R. Poornima and urged her to give in writing on the action taken by the district authorities on the Congress Party’s earlier complaints on poll code violations and other electoral malpractices by the ruling BJP, by this evening.
