Congress stages protest in city against rising fuel prices

Members of Mysuru City and District Congress Unorganised Labour Cell staging protest in front of Dr. Rajkumar Park against rising fuel prices yesterday.

Mysore/Mysuru: Alleging maladministration by BJP Governments at Centre and State resulting in frequent increase in fuel prices and essential commodities which was causing a lot of problems to middle class families, the Mysuru City and District Congress Unorganised Labour Cell and K.R. Constituency Congress unit staged separate protests in city yesterday.

The members of the Congress Labour Cell, who assembled in front of Dr. Rajkumar Park, performed puja to LPG cylinders, garlanded two-wheelers and performed mangalarathi by chanting ‘Aachhe Din Ayega.’ They also shouted slogans against the Central and State Governments for their anti-people attitude.

Speaking on the occasion, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar said that the lives of common people in the country had become miserable as prices of essential commodities and fuel were reaching the sky. He warned that if both the Governments do not take steps to control the rising prices, the people would teach the BJP a lesson in future.

City Congress President R. Murthy, Unorganised Labour Cell City President Vinay Kumar, Rural President Nagaraj and others took part in the protest.

Meanwhile, the K.R. Constituency Congress members, alleging that the BJP Governments at Centre and State had failed miserably in controlling the rising prices staged a protest at Ittigegud in MCC Ward No. 52 coming under the Constituency.

The protestors, led by former MLA M.K. Somashekar performed puja to LPG cylinders and two-wheelers in front of houses and expressed anger on rising fuel prices.

City Congress President R. Murthy, Congress K.R. Block President G. Somashekar, District Congress Committee In-charge Secretary Mahesh, Kurubarahalli Prakash and others were present.
