Mandya: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara cautioned that  Congress will take disciplinary action against rebel leaders of Mandya if they failed to work for the victory of coalition candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

Speaking after inaugurating Dalit Political Awareness Convention held at A.C. Madegowda Community Hall in Mandya yesterday, he said that the party had entered into pact with JD(S) to keep communal parties at bay.

AICC President Rahul Gandhi had directed KPCC to work sincerely for the victory of coalition candidates and also given directions to initiate disciplinary action against party workers who have been working against coalition candidate, Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

Dr. Parameshwara said that as per coalition dharma, the party workers should campaign for the candidate selected by the High Command. The party will not pardon the leaders working against its interest. BJP has not fielded its candidate in Mandya and is supporting Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambarish. Party leaders should not support her in this election.

Mandya will see a lot of development if Nikhil elected to Parliament and Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister. The party workers must sensitise the voters to vote for JD(S) symbol, he added.

Congress leader Amaravathi Chandrashekar said Sumalatha Ambarish is not a BJP-backed candidate but she is truly BJP candidate, at the meeting.

Expel rebel leaders

Various Congress leaders who were present at the Convention urged him to expel rebel leaders and former MLAs Narendraswamy, Cheluvarayaswamy and Rameshbabu Bandisiddegowda.
