Mysuru: The OLX app is a fun, cool and easy way to buy and sell things around you. Talk to anyone if you have something to sell or buy and this is the advise one gets that it is easiest to buy and sell things using this wonderful app.
Realising how gullible people can be, two charlatans would call up people advertising on OLX for selling their bikes and on the pretext of taking them for trials, would vanish with them. However, finally their luck ran out when the South Rural Police arrested them.
The Police have recovered from them three KTM two-wheelers worth about Rs. 6 lakh. Salman and Naushad, hailing from Mandya and Tumkur respectively, are the two culprits who have been nabbed.
Modus Operandi: The duo would scan the internet to find out who had put up the KTM bikes for sale on OLX. Three persons from Mandya and Tumkur had advertised on OLX about the sale of their KTM bikes. The accused contacted the sellers on the phone numbers provided.
Pretending to buy the bikes, both of them went to Mandya and Tumkur and got the details of the price of the bike and the working condition. Later, convincing the owners that they would take them for a trial, escaped with the bikes. The owners after waiting for hours realised that they have been taken for a ride. Then the owners approached the Police and filed a complaint.
Meanwhile, Naushad, who had come from Tumkuru, was living in Kadakola. The residents had found him riding around fancy new bikes every day and they informed the Police. The Police had kept a close watch on his moments and arrested the accused three days ago.
On the information provided by him, the Police arrested Salman also. The Police have registered a case and sent the accuse to the jail.
