Mysuru – A Constable attached to Udayagiri Police Station was reportedly assaulted by a group of three men in Nazarbad Police Station limits here yesterday. The assaulted Constable has been identified as Manjunath. He was travelling in the goods vehicle, which was seized by the Udayagiri Police for illegal cattle transportation yesterday, to park it in CAR Grounds yesterday afternoon.
As the vehicle was on way to CAR Ground travelling on the road along Karanji Lake at about 3.30 pm, the vehicle broke-down and stopped in the middle of the road. Three men who were in a car that was immediately behind the goods vehicle, irked by the sudden stopping of the vehicle, got down from the car and entered into a wordy duel with the Constable. As heated exchanges continued between the group of men travelling in the car — who have been identified as Ramalinga of Siddartha Layout, Satish of Giridarshini Layout and another man, who is yet to be identified — assaulted Manjunath and fled from the spot.
Soon Constable Manjunath lodged a complaint with the jurisdictional Nazarbad Police, who swung into action and arrested Ramalinga and Satish while the third accused has gone absconding, it is learnt.
