Contract, daily-wage Pourakarmikas seek regularisation of jobs

Mysuru: In response to the State-wide protest call, hundreds of Pourakarmikas, under the joint banner of Karnataka Rajya Nagarapalike, Nagarasabhe, Purasabhegala Pourakarmikara Maha Sangha, MCC Regular and Contract Pourakarmikas Association and MCC Contract Pourakarmikas Association, staged a demonstration in front of the DC’s office here this morning seeking fulfilment of their long standing demands, which chiefly included regularisation of services of contract and daily-wage Pourakarmikas.

Maintaining that their numerous representations on regularisation of services had no impact, the protesters demanded implementation of the Karnataka High Court order and State Cabinet decision taken on May 4, 2016 on regularisation of Pourakarmikas working in City Corporations who have been serving for years, regularisation of the services of Supervisors and Jaffedars who work with them and regularisation of services of watermen, drivers, drainage workers, maistries etc., serving in urban local bodies, among others.

Earlier, the protesters, playing percussion instruments,  marched in a procession from Town Hall to the DC’s office and submitted a memorandum containing their charter of  demands to the DC.
