Alleged harassment from officers
Nanjangud: A contract employee, alleging harassment from the factory officers, ended his life by hanging self in the factory premises in the industrial area of the town here yesterday.
The deceased Kumaraswamy (44), a resident of Kappasoge village, was said to be working as a contract employee at the factory since 23 years.
Kumaraswamy left for work as usual yesterday morning and was reportedly found hanging in the factory lab at about 3 pm. His colleagues, who saw him hanging, informed the higher officials, who in turn informed Nanjangud Town Police.
During inspection, the Police found a death note mentioning the names of three officers who were harassing him and urged for action against them.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have demanded legal action against those responsible for Kumaraswamy’s death. They urged for compensation and a permanent job to his son at the factory and refused to shift the body for post-mortem till their demands were met. Nanjangud Town Police have registered a case and are investigating.
