Contract Pourakarmikas demand regularisation of service

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Pourakarmika and Contract Pourakarmika Association has urged the Government to fulfil its pre-poll promise of regularising the service of 25,000 Contract Pourakarmikas across the State.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, Association President N. Mara said that the previous BJP Government had ordered regularisation of service of 11,133 Pourakarmikas, garbage vehicle drivers and drainage workers and had also promised regularisation of 12,000 more in a later stage.

Pointing out that there are 33,000 direct payment Pourakarmikas in the State, including 1,540 in the MCC alone, Mara wanted the Congress Government to regularise all of them in one go. He urged Chief Minister Siddharamaiah to take measures in this regard and keep the poll promise of the Government.

Mara further said that the Association has been partly  revamped with a new set of office-bearers, with M. Vadivelu elected as the Honorary President, M.V. Venkatesh as the Honorary Working President, D.R. Raju as Secretary, Hanumatha as Honorary Secretary and Bank Ranganna as Advisor.

Association office-bearers T. Srinivas, N. Mohankumar, Manchaiah, M. Vadivelu, M.V. Venkatesh, Bank Ranganna and others were present at the press meet.
