Contract worker arrested for stealing temple hundi money

Hanur: The M.M. Hills Police have arrested a contract employee of M.M. Hills Temple for stealing Rs. 40,000 during the counting of the temple hundis that took place on July 14.

The arrested has been identified as 23-year old Panneer Selvam.

Panneer Selvam, who was involved in the temple hundi (offerings box) process, was moving in and out of the counting room at the first floor of the temple complex, when a Police Constable on security duty, grew suspicious and caught him at the store room. During frisking, Selvam was found in possession of Rs. 40,000, following which he was arrested. Even the images captured in the CCTV cameras showed Selvam putting money in his pocket.

Based on a complaint by M.M. Hills Temple Development Authority Deputy Secretary Basavarajappa, the M.M. Hills Police have registered a case.
