Mysuru: The visiting Odisha suffered an innings and 54 runs defeat against hosts Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy match held at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium at Manasagangothri, here this afternoon.

Odisha, chasing the first innings score of 308 runs posted by Karnataka were bundled out for 147 runs in 62.5 overs and were asked to follow on. In the second innings Karnataka bowlers continued to dominate as Odisha was bowled out for 107 runs in 54 overs, suffering an innings and 54 runs defeat.

For Karnataka, Siddharth Akhil picked up a five-wicket haul giving away just 27 runs in 12 overs and in the first innings, Pranav Ashwath had also picked up five wickets giving away 24 runs in 12 overs. Skipper Dheeraj Gowda also picked up three wickets in 19.5 overs giving away 40 runs.

Earlier, having asked to bat first, Karnataka posted a competitive score of 308 runs losing all their wickets in 95.5 overs. Opener S. Gagan Rao (61 runs), Shivam Singh (49 runs), Manikanth Shivanand (49 runs), Dheeraj Gowda (49 runs) and Siddharth Akhil (33 runs) contributed to the team score. For Odisha, Sayed Tufayl Ahmad ended up with figures of 4 for 44 in 21 overs.

Chasing Karnataka’s first innings score of 308 runs, Odisha fell short by 161 runs as they were bundled out for 147 62.5 overs as were asked to follow on. The visitors did not fare well in their second innings as well, as they were bowled out for 107 runs in 54 overs, much lower to their first innings score. Prayan Prantik Samal (26 runs) topped scored for Odisha and was followed by Ayush Sutar (21 runs) and Sambit K. Beja (19 runs).
