Mysuru: A Police Inspector, who had dared to book Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s son late Rakesh Siddharamaiah for assault, has finally been promoted as a Dy.SP of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Bengaluru.
He was transferred from Nazarbad Police Station to District Crime Branch Records Bureau (DCRB) Karwar. According to sources, Inspector G.N. Mohan was shunted out to Karwar after he booked Rakesh Siddharamaiah when he was the Nazarbad Inspector. His promotion was withheld since then. He is now likely to take charge as ACB Dy.SP on June 19.
Mohan had booked Rakesh, the elder son of CM Siddharamaiah, on a charge of attempt to murder in a poll-related incident on May 18, 2013. Mohan, then attached to the Nazarbad Station, had booked Rakesh and 10 others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly attacking the KJP?candidate K.P. Siddalingaswamy, who had contested against Siddharamaiah from the Varuna constituency. Rakesh was named the prime accused in the case.
Siddalingaswamy had lodged a complaint that he and his supporters including Taluk Panchayat Member Mahadeva Swamy were assaulted by?the Rakesh-led group of Siddharamaiah supporters when he was returning from the Chamundi Hill. He had suffered hairline fracture in the incident, which had triggered a snap stir with Siddalingaswamy and his supporters protesting in front of the office of the DC.?Acting on the complaint, the Police had booked Rakesh and 10 of his supporters.
Siddharamaiah had expressed his anger with a senior Police Officer for booking a case of attempt to murder against his son, without probing the complaint.
Mohan was later suspended for “erring in his duty.”
