IIIT-A Director Prof. Nagabhushan feted

Indian Institute of Information Technology - Allahabad Director Prof. P. Mysuru: Indian Institute of Information Technology – Allahabad (IIIT-A) Director Prof. P. Nagabhushan was felicitated by the University of Mysore (UoM) at a programme organised at Rani Bahadur Auditorium in Manasagangothri here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, former UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa said that Prof. Nagabhushan, who was the Head of the Department of Computer Science, when he (Rangappa) served as the UoM Vice-Chancellor, had extended full co-operation to him in all their initiatives launched for the academic development of the University.

Highlighting the contribution of Prof. Nagabhushan to the UoM, Prof. Rangappa said that it was a matter of delight that Prof. Nagabhushan had become IIIT-A Director.

Regretting that Prof. Nagabhushan was deprived of becoming Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University earlier, Prof. Rangappa wished that Prof. Nagabhushan would now bring more laurels to IIIT-A.

Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Byrappa, in his address, said that Prof. Nagabhushan is the third one from the University of Mysore to be appointed as the Head of a University or a National Institution outside the State.

The two others were late Prof. U.R . Ananthamurthy who was appointed at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala and Prof. Ishwar Bhat, who was made V-C of Central Law University, he said and added that Prof. Nagabhushan’s appointment is testimony to the reputation of UoM.

Former VC Prof. K. Chidananda Gowda, who was Prof. Nagabhushan’s Ph.D guide, delivered the felicitation address.

Prof. Nagabhushan and his wife Lakshmi Nagabhushan couple were feted.

UoM acting VC Prof. Dayananda Mane presided. City’s Ramakrishna Vidyashala Correspondent Swami Yukteshanandaji graced the occasion.

UoM Computer Science faculty Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Prof.S.Murali, Prof. Suresh, Prof. D.S. Guru and others were present.
