Cops nab accused, who had stolen Rs. 11 lakh cash from fish store

Mysore/Mysuru: Mandi Police have arrested a man on charges of stealing Rs. 11 lakh cash from a fish store. The accused, a former employee of the fish store, along with a present employee had committed the crime.

The arrested is 33-year-old Farooq Khan of Mandi Mohalla and the Police are on a look out for his accomplice, who is absconding.

On Aug. 28 night, accused Farooq along with his accomplice, had forcibly opened the shutters of the fish store and had decamped with Rs. 11 lakh cash kept in the cash box after opening it with a duplicate key.

Mandi Inspector Nagesh,  who had registered a case, conducted investigation and arrested Farooq.

During interrogation, the Police came to know that accused Farooq was earlier working at the fish store, owned by one Ahmed of Mandi Mohalla. After quitting the job, he (Farooq) along with the present employee of the fish store had committed the crime.

Police said that the accused has confessed of buying a few items from the stolen money and had also given some cash to the present employee.
