Mysore/Mysuru: With the State and the country witnessing a second wave attack of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the Education Department has come forward for conducting awareness campaigns in schools and colleges.
As a first step in this regard, the Department has released Rs. 29.605 lakh for holding awareness campaigns at 5,921 schools and colleges, with a grant of Rs. 500 per programme.
The Director of State Planning has issued instructions to district-level officers for conducting awareness programmes for students of classes nine to twelve in the first phase. The teachers at schools and colleges have been tasked with the responsibility of successfully holding such programmes. During the course of the campaign, teachers will educate students on how to protect themselves from epidemic diseases and also mentally and intellectually prepare them on facing situations.
The students will also be given tips on maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness in the campus and in the vicinity. They will also be given inputs on how to engage themselves academically during the COVID-19 crisis.
Out of the released funds, Mysuru District has got Rs.1.375 lakh for 275 schools and colleges, Mandya District Rs.1.440 lakh for its 288 schools and colleges, Hassan District Rs.1.445 lakh for its 289 schools and colleges, Chamarajanagar Rs. 69, 500 for its 139 schools and colleges and Kodagu district has got Rs.39, 500 for its 79 schools and colleges.
