Mysore/Mysuru: A couple has allegedly cheated a man of Rs. 9.70 lakh on the pretext of giving their house for lease.
The man, who has been cheated, is 32-year-old Premadas, a native of Antharasanthe village in H.D. Kote taluk, who was residing in Aparna Layout near Srirampura Ring Road. The accused couple are Dharmaraj and Sowmya, who are residing in the same layout, according to the complaint.
Details: Premadas, who was residing in Aprana Layout since three years was looking for a house on lease when the couple, who live behind the house of Premadas told him that they would give their house on lease and take a house on lease somewhere else.
The couple then reportedly took Rs. 15 lakh from Premadas, but failed to give the house and demanded an additional Rs. 5 lakh to give the house. When Premadas told them that he could not give the addition amount and asked them to repay the amount, the couple gave him Rs. 5 lakh once and again Rs. 30,000 but did not give him the balance amount.
The complaint further states that when Premadas demanded the balance amount, the couple is said to have threatened him of leaving the dogs on him besides threatening him of lodging Police complaint accusing Premadas of harassing women and caste abuse.
Kuvempunagar Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
