Srirangapatna: A small quarrel resulted in a couple ending their lives in Srirangapatna taluk. While the woman ended her life by hanging self in her house, her husband, on learning that his wife had died, hanged himself to a tree, which came to light this morning.

The deceased couple has been identified as Prabhavathi (40), a native of Maralagala, Arakere hobli and Dileep (45), a native of Pampinahosahalli, Belagola taluk, both in Srirangapatna taluk. As Dileep was working at a brick manufacturing unit, the couple was staying at a rented house in Baburayanakoppal in the taluk.

The couple leaves behind a 13-year-old son.

Last night, a quarrel broke out between Prabhavathi and Dileep over a petty issue. As wordy duel ensued between them, Dileep, who picked up a bag, left his house saying that he will not return following which his wife Prabhavathi called a relative over phone and informed about it.

But, by the time her relative arrived, Prabhavathi had reportedly hanged herself in her house and the relative, with the help of others, rushed Prabhavathi to a hospital in Srirangapatna, where the doctors, who examined her, declared her as  ‘brought dead.’

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Dileep, who came to the hospital unnoticed, learnt that his wife was dead and reportedly hanged himself to a tree behind a petrol bunk in Kirangur village late night and the incident came to light this morning.

Srirangapatna Town Inspector Prakash and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, shifted the body of Dileep to the mortuary for post-mortem besides registering a case.
