Couple kills infant, ends life

Nagamangala: A couple, depressed over frequent quarrels in the family, allegedly killed their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and later committed suicide by hanging self. The incident took place at Gangawadi village in the taluk yesterday evening.

The deceased are Raghu (28), a resident of Sugar Town Layout in Mandya, his wife Tanushree (24) and their daughter Siri.

Raghu and Tanushree, who were in love, had married about 2-and-a-half-years ago in Bengaluru and were residing there. They had recently returned to Mandya and were residing at Sugar Town Layout. It is learnt that the couple used to fight frequently for silly reasons and fed up over this, Tanushree had gone to her parents’ house at Gangawadi village about a week ago and Raghu too went to the village and was staying there.

But last evening, they reportedly suffocated their daughter to death and later hanged themselves. Tanushree, in her death note, has stated: “No one is responsible for our death. We are responsible for our death. Please forgive us. Call the phone numbers found in my husband’s mobile phone and inform them. Put the dress I had brought to my daughter. This my last wish. Perform our last rites together and send us happily. Do not fight.”

Rural Police Station personnel, who visited the place, conducted an inspection and have taken further action.
