Principal Civil Court (Junior Division) in Madikeri has granted permission to four family members of Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy to file objections to the ‘B’ report submitted by the CID, which probed the suicide of the Police officer.
Ganapathy’s father Kushalappa, mother Ponnamma, brother Machaiah and sister Sabitha had filed an application in the court on Oct. 24, 2016 to consider them as co-complainants. The court heard the arguments on Mar. 7 and has granted permission to the family members to file their objections by Apr. 10.
Ganapathy had committed suicide at a lodge in Madikeri on July 7, 2016. Before taking the extreme step, Ganapathy had given an interview to a private channel in which he had named Minister K.J. George, senior IPS officer A.M. Prasad, DIG Pranab Mohanty, saying they had harassed him. The CID had given a clean chit to all the three and had submitted the report to the court on September 17, 2016.
Later, Ganapathy’s son Nehal, who was a private complainant, had expressed satisfaction over the probe. He stated that he would stay away from the case as it would affect his studies.
With Judge Annapoorneshwari allowing the family members to file objections, the private complaint has been given a new lease of life. The CID team on Monday submitted the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report to the court.
