Mysore/Mysuru: A City Court has directed the Police to file a criminal case against former BJP MLC G. Madhusudan in a private case filed by former University of Mysore and KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa.
Prof. K.S. Rangappa, in his private complaint to the Court, had alleged that ex-MLC G. Madhusudan had levelled baseless allegations against him (Rangappa) during the Indian Science Congress Convention in 2020, when he was then the General President of the Indian Science Congress.
Maintaining that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had attended the event which was held in Bengaluru, Prof. Rangappa said that Madhusudan had targeted him with an intention to defame him and to prevent his participation in the 107th Indian Science Congress in Bengaluru.
Accusing Madhusudan, who was also a former member of the Administrative Council of KSOU, of misusing his powers and filing a false complaint at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station based on Justice Bhaktavatsalam Report, which case was later quashed by the Court, Prof. Rangappa , in his Court complaint, had charged the former MLC of issuing repeated statements that hurt his reputation, despite a Civil Court restraint order.
The Third JMFC Court at Mysuru, which heard Prof. Rangappa’s private complaint, directed the Police to register a criminal case against the accused for the offence under Sections 499, 500 and 501 of IPC and to issue a summons to the accused G.Madhusudan.
Meanwhile, ex-MLC G. Madhusudan, reacting to the Court order, said that he welcomes the Court verdict. Speaking to Star of Mysore, Madhusudan said that the Court has issued the direction based only on the statement of Prof. K.S. Rangappa.
Contending that the Court has only directed for a case against him, Madhsudhan said that the Court has not declared him as a convict.
Arguing that Prof. Rangappa’s claims will come under scrutiny when the Court begins hearing in the case, he asserted that he was ready to prove the charges he had made against Prof. Rangappa, along with supporting documents. The Court direction has given him an opportunity to expose Prof. Rangappa, he maintained.
