Court sentences five accused in murder case to life imprisonment

They had burnt alive four persons of a family

Mysuru: The city’s Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced five persons to life imprisonment for murdering four persons of a family and has imposed a fine of Rs.2 lakh each.

Those sentenced to life are Haseena, Adil, Kausar, Jabeen, Syeeda and Zarin Taj.

On Mar.30, 2014 midnight, Haseena along with others had doused petrol on the family members of Afzal Pasha of K.N. Pura in Udayagiri Police limits at his residents and has set them on fire resulting in the death of Afzal Pasha, Shirin Taj, Saif and Yousuf and Myfoos, Yunus and Masood suffering severe burn injuries. The injured were admitted to a hospital and hence recovered.

Udayagiri Police, who had registered a case against Haseena, Adil, Kausar, Jabeen, Syeeda and Zarin Taj, investigated the case and had submitted the charge-sheet to the Court.

The Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Hosamani Pundalika, who heard the arguments from both sides, found the five accused guilty of the crime and sentenced them to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs.2 lakh each. 

If the accused fail to pay the fine, they have to undergo an additional six months imprisonment.

Public Prosecutor Dharannevar argued on behalf of the Government, according to a press release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO), City Police Commissioner’s  Office, Mysuru.
